About Troop 289
Troop 289 is a boy led troop chartered by Prosper United Methodist Church. We meet every Monday at 7pm at the Collinsbrook Canoe Club during the school year and every other Monday during the summer.
The troop participates in service projects including Prosper Christmas, Senior Dinner and Bethlehem House.
We use the patrol method and are heavily focused on a boy led philosophy.
Troop 289 has campouts every month, and past campouts have focused on outdoor cooking, biking, hiking and canoeing. We have regular events like a mid-winder lock-in, trips to historical locations and participating in Merit Badge University.
Every summer we attended a one week long Summer Camp in different locations. Over the past years we have gone to Oklahoma, Colorado, and Arkansas. We also attend High adventure camps. During the summer of 2023 we sent a crew to the Florida Keys to the Florida Sea Base.
